The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Outlook Archiving uses Modified Date, not Received/Created Date - how do I change this?

Asked by TinsleyC in Outlook Groupware Software

I've looked high and low for a way to change Outlook's behavior in archiving.  By default, it archives items based on Modified date, not Received date or Create date.

This causes several problems in a high-volume message store.  First of all, we migrated from Exchange 5.5 to 2003 on 10/16/2004, and now EVERY e-mail message, Calendar entry, Task, Notes, everything - has a 10/16/2004 Modified date.  This means that on a default 6-month Archiving schedule, it'll be 04/17/2005 before any e-mails are moved.  I have some users with over 500MB in their box and it grows by 20MB a week ore more.  We can't afford to go this long and we don't look forward to moving them manually, either.

Note that any time a message is moved to another folder, the Modified date is changed.  I have some users that move all their messages to folders before they run Archiving and then wonder why nothing gets moved.

You can see this Modified date in your message display by right-clicking on the title bar, choosing Field Chooser, change the field types to "Date/Time fields", and then drag Modified to the title bar.

At this point, I'm reduced to looking for a registry hack that will change Outlook to Archive on Received or Created Date.  Can anyone help?  Do I have no other option?  Is there a 3rd party tool I can buy that will do this for me?

Thanks
