The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Storing Files on Outlook

This is what I want to do and if anyone can give me a solution of what can be done or if you are currently using a system that may be the best solution then points are yours.

We have a small exchange server that manages about 10 computers.  We have about 25 exchange users.  All office data is stored on the Server and all computers access files directly from the Server.  Now for some managers and of course the president they either synchronize their files if they bring or even have a laptop.  All managers access their Outlook from home via the desktop software and not the web access outlook.  We would like for managers to be able to access the files on the server but without too much instruction or security risk.  For our IT guys I know they can remotely access the server for maintenance purposes.

Is there some way though that Outlook can house if not link in some way to these files on the server since Outlook is directly connected in some way to the server already?  I know there are Public Folders on Outlook but these are restrictive to file types for Outlook such as contacts, emails etc..(Unless someone prove and explain to me otherwise).  Prefferably I would like to have something that Exchange/Outlook/Windows XP may have already but if an add-on is necessary then I am all ears.  Now if neither of these options are available either through Outlook (Which would be extremely preferred) or Add-on then please give me a diagram of how does your company deal with this type of situation or if anybody has any recommendations please let me know.  If I'm not asking for a miracle here with the solution we would like some sort of administrative control over who can see what and use what.  In other words we don't want everybody to have open access to every file on the server.

Points will be awarded only to a solution that does not relate to remote access of any kind either through the Server or directly to the Desktop.  Start Free Trial
