The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Outlook 2002 Appointment anomaly

Asked by Netman66 in Outlook Groupware Software

I have an interesting issue that has arisen at the office here that is something that I need some input on.

Client Platform: Windows 2000 Pro.
App: Outlook XP as installed with Office XP Suite - SP3.
Server: Exchange 2000 on Windows 2000 Advanced Server.

Here's the issue:

1)  User A makes a new Meeting Request and invites User B.
2)  User B accepts the request.

The meeting shows correctly in both user's Calendars.

3)  User B decides to opent the Meeting Request and add some comments to the comment pane at the bottom of the window.
4)  User B then closes the Meeting Request and is prompted to save changes - he does so.

At this point, User A has the original Meeting Request in his Calendar (unaltered) and User B has his own, editted copy in his Calendar.

5)  User A decides to change the Meeting to a new time (or date - it doesn't matter) and a second Updated: Meeting Request goes out to User B.
6)  User B accepts the request for the Updated time.

At this point User B goes back into his Calendar to add more text to the comment pane and discovers that everything he typed previously is gone.

Now, my question is this:  Why didn't Outlook preserve his text when moving the meeting?  Why didn't he get prompted if he was going to lose it?  Is this a bug or a procedural issue?

Any insight into this would be great - we've had a number of these issues come up and losing a page of typing is not a good thing.
