When I restart Outlook the problem went away.

Browse All TopicsFor the last couple of days, when I click on "Send/Receive" I get an error: 8004210A. I haven't made any changes to outlook for a long time, but I think I had a virus, because once when I started my system I got messages that all my file pointers were being fixed, which took about an hour. Any suggestion?

Yes, I did, and the problem didn't reoccur.
While I'm here two simple questions:
1. How can I turn on automation for receive so that when I open outlook I don't have to click "Send/Receive"?
2. When I open Outlook I have to click on "MyShortcuts" & then Inbox to display my inbox. How can I set it up so that happens automatically when I open Outlook?

1. Tools | Options | Mail Setup | Send/Receive.
Check Schedule an automatic send/receive every <n> minutes. Then select a number of minutes to automatically do the send/receive.
2. Tools | Options | Other | Advanced Options.
Hit the Browse button in Startup in this folder and select the required folder.

Greetings, jc31415!
Make sure you have gotten rid of the virus. Perform a repair of Outlook. With Outlook open, go to Help > Detect and Repair
Cheers!
