Greetings, ajronline!

Outlook stores account settings in a PST file.

Go toFile ==> Import and Export

Follow the wizzard. You can then create a PST of you set up and mail.

Then do the reverse on your new computer.

Cheers!
All e-mail, calendar info, contacts, tasks, and the like are stored in a PST file.  Just copy the PST file to the new system.  As for the e-mail account settings, you can review the settings by going to the Tools Menu, E-mail Accounts option, Then in the wizard, set it to "View or Change existing e-mail accounts" (may be that way by default) and click next.  In the next window, you can view the settings by clicking "Change" with one of the accounts highlighted.  Note the settings, then on the new system, setup a new mail account using those settings.
No need to export, just copy the file.

It is easier to export if you do not where the PST file is located.

Hello, all, and thanks for the quick replies.  However, none of these answers seem to work.  Here's a brief history of what has transpired.

I copied the PST file from the dying hard drive in documents and settings\username\application data\microsoft\outlook which had a large chain of directories and subdirectories.  I also exported a PST file, just in case.

With previous versions of Office, I was able to use the file and settings transfer wizard to back up Outlook, but it has disappeared from the menu when I upgraded to 2003.

I have copied the pst file to the new computer, and opened it, and although all the email files are there, the settings aren't.  I have also imported the pst file, with the same lack of success.

I know the path of least resistance is just to manually re-enter the accounts, but since I'm moving all this back to the old machine when it has returned from repair, I thought I'd try doing it the right way.  Is there a way to resurrect them from the existing pst file?

Has anyone tried the commercial office backup software?  Do y ou have any recommendations?

If you cannot find the settings, the backup you did above should save the settings.
