I've recently upgrade to Office 2003 from 2000. It seems like all of my default views have had the switch added to "Automatically Group According To Arrangement." I've given it a few days to sink it, but I really prefer it the way I had it. It's a real pain to turn it off View By View. Does anyone know a way to turn it off across Outlook without wiping out the large number of custom views I've already created?

This seems to be the way to do it on a view by view basis, but I'm not getting the part on how to do it once and have it apply as the new default. The link you sent also seems to be limited to a single view. Perhaps I don't understand the view "concept." Are views built like classes that inherit the characteristics from their parents?
I don't think that this can be set as a default view in Outlook 2003, although I might be wrong, but I have looked everywhere in the past to try and find out how to do this.
It seems like Outlook wants to default to arranging in groups whenever a new folder is created and that the quickest way to change it is to navigate to the folder and right-click on the column headings, go to Arrange By and deselect the groups option at the bottom.
I hope that someone can prove me wrong, but I would say that there is no way to apply this setting across the board.
If you various folders are all using the same view, you can get view changes applied to all folders by changing that original view, rather than by modifying the way that view is applied to an individual folder. Go through the View menu and modify the original view (e.g. Messages) rather than the Current View.

I was just as frustrated about the group views and searched experts and found no solution....but lo and behold !!
THERE IS A WAY TO TURN OFF GROUP VIEWS IN OUTLOOK ACROSS THE BOARD!!
