Error synchronizing folder 'Inbox'

I have a user who is unable to synchronize his inbox.  This is what the synchronization log looks like:

At first I saw that his mailbox was over 1.8 GB so I thought that was the problem.  We've reduced the size to about 800 MB and re-created the .ost file on his laptop but still get this error.

No other users have having problems with synchronization.

What are the next steps?  Could it be a particular email or emails causing the problem?
