The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Outlook Stopped Suggesting Names (to auto-complete addressees)

Outlook 2003
Windows XP Pro
-------------------

Customer indicates Outlook used to handle all his suggestions (to complete addressing) as expected.  But today, it stopped working and will only complete the address for a particular person if added today.  In other words, typing D-O-E will not bring up Doe, John.  But, once he finishes the addressing and sends the email, if he should type, D, a suggestion for Doe, John pops up.  Well, this is the way it's supposed to work BUT, before today, Doe, John had been in the NK2 file for months (!).  It just stopped showing it.

So, I took a look at the NK2 file.  It was created in 2004, is 324KB, last accessed today (the 18th) but last modified on the 17th (!?).  So, the NK2 file appears to be intact, of sufficeint size to contain a lot of names, and, apparently, containing an entry for Doe, John before today but opted NOT to show it until I "primed" it again by retying the whole name again.  If it had to add the name to the file, it would have shown it modified as of today.

So, I'm a little perplexed as it appears the names are in the file (given the size) and the option to suggest names is turned on (duh!) but it's as if Outlook has just decided its not going to look any more...almost as if the indexing of the file is messed up so it can't find any of the names any more and is rebuilding the index to the name entries once it has the entire name typed in again.

This is of particular interest to the customer because he has many names that pop up (or used to!) that are NOT in his contacts (they were typed in from scratch directily into a message) and they are now, apparently, lost.Start Free Trial
