Need Free Outlook .PST email viewer

i have looked at mailnavigator, but it is not free.
i need a free .pst viewer.  can anyone help?

There is no free one that I know of,  but Outlook seems to do a fine job.

Mailnavigator is a good PST viewer but not free.

Greetings, zephyr_hex.

If I'm reading Mailnavigator's information correctly it requires Outlook to be installed on the computer to read the PST file.  If Outlook is on the PC, then why not use it to look at the PST file rather than using another tool?  I just don't see the point.

i kept this open hoping to get more ideas.  but there doesn't seem to be any free pst viewers, which is too bad.  there are free viewers for outlook express...

i was looking for a viewer because an employee wants to move email off his computer to a cd/dvd format.  if he later needs an email which is contained in the backup, i dont want him to re-import or attempt to use outlook to view the email... i'm afraid he'll get things confused.  so that's why i'd prefer a stand-alone email viewer and not outlook.  i was hoping for a free tool.  oh well, i suppose the employee can purchase mailnavigator.

This might not be much help, but the open source Zimbra Suite has a tool for importing archives from PST files. It relies on Outlook as well, but once you've run the tool, you can access all your old email/contacts/calendars via POP3/IMAP/Web.
