Question

Sender's name is in wrong format please help (500pts)

Hi experts,
I have a bit of a problem I cannot find the  solution to. I had put a user on their own PST file because their mailbox had gotten too large for our information store and now her name (when seen in the "from" column of the recipients inbox) does not show as "Joan Doe" as it should, it shows as "jdoe". I have tried looking in the options in outlook and found a "User Information" tab, but changing this did nothing. I even have tried re-creating her mailbox on the server but still to no avail. Any help is appreciated.

Hi RAMCIT,

When you are in the folder list / inbox view, you can edit your contact book.

Tools
Address book

Now you can choose jdoe, and edit this entry by double clicking it.
At the right you have a field "display as" which says how a contact has to be displayed in the to but also the from field.

Now if you change the "display as" of jdoe to "John Doe", and you receive a new mail of him, what does that give??

The "display as" field is correct on the server (and it shows correctly in the client address book).

This is why this problem has me completely baffled.

What I mean is "how is it in YOUR addressbook"...
Change it in YOUR addressbook, let him send a new mail, and look how it displays..

I use the global address book, which is linked to the exchange server and cannot be edited by the client.

And is the X400 adress correct? I don't know if that can give a problem?
In my organisation the X400 parameters with the name in it is s=Doe, g=John

Normally, this is filled in once automatically, but when you change a person's data, then there can be a problem.
I had this once.

Yup, it is X400 and if I go into that person's properties in the address book it does show as s=doe, g=joan

I did not change anything in the users "display as" field when I converted her to PST...

this is very strange

I assume that means that she still has an Exchange mailbox and that you simply changed the default mail delivery location to the PST file.  Is that right?

That is correct. In her Outlook I have set the default delivery to the PST file.

Is jdoe her display name?  Have you tried creating a new Outlook profile?
