PST has reached maximum size limit

I have a user that I upgraded from Outlook 2000 (Office 2000) to Outlook 2003 (Office 2003) very recently.  This users pst was approaching the 2gb limit so I decided to upgrade.

This user just received a "pst has reached maximum size limit" message.  I thought the size limit of the pst in Outlook 2003 was 20GB?

Please don't tell me that we need to convert the PST file manually.  I see we can now create two types of PST in OUtlook 2003.  Do I need to creat a 2003 version of the PST and then import from the old version?  Is this what I need to do?

Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Yes.

The size limit is on the file type 97-02 had the 2gb limit. the 03 type will get you rpast that.

Hi yeller,

I have to tell you that you do need to create a new pst in Unicode format. Outlook 2003 will not convert the old pst whis is in Ansi format.

You probably know the drill. Create a new pst using Office Outlook personal folders file and copy the old pst to the new.

sorry,

Frankco, no worries, happened to me too :)
yeller - confused as to why I didn't get credit for answering your question..... ohers followed with the same info I did, AdamRobinson did provide a link for what I assumed you already knew (based on your statement) and that you were just looking for comfirmation that yes indeed you did need to create a new pst and import your data.

Was the link the difference here?

Thanks.

p912s,

I was in too much of a rush and when I reviewed who gave the correct answer.  I passed over yours.  AdamRobinson gave me the link which clarified the issue but you should have shared in the points.  My apologies.
That's ok... just trying to understand what happened here. Thanks for the reply.
