I have Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2, and Outlook 2003. I receive voicemail messages automatically via email as .wav file attachments. I have been double clicking and playing the messages for months. Suddenly, it stopped working and I receive the error message on all messages received. Other attachments, like Excel still work. Messages that previously played without error i.e. were delivered w/o corruption, no longer play.
Even when trying to save the message to a file directory v. open it, it has error message, "Cant create file... check permissions". I've tried different directories to save the file, but all have the error message.

yes, other .wav files play.
Actually just solved the problem. The temp dir for outlook had same file name 'voice-message.wav' with read-only attrib. I deleted and everything working.
directory is C:\Documents and Settings\%USER_NAME%\Local

can you play other sound files? Have you tried playing the sound files with another media player? have you tried downloading the messages out of outlook (right click and save as...) and then play the file from a saved location on the hard drive?
