Hi Thanks for Reading!
I'm trying to help a client dump a hosting company that has been extremely sub par. They use Hosted Exchange with a company that provides no Management tools at all. I guess any time they need a new mailbox or any kind of change they have to contact the hosting company to do it for them.
I'm going to be moving them Rackspace using their Hosted Exchange platform, along with getting them a dedicated Windows Server for Websites and Sharepoint Server.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this as seamlessly as possible so that interruptions on the business are at an absolute minimum.
What is the best way to migrate the actual Exchange Data from one provider to another? If at all possible I'd like to avoid using the Clients to upload data to the new Exchange Solution, due to upstream bandwidth limitations at the office. What I would really like to do is have the mailboxes at Rackspace pretty much pre-populated with as much of the Exchange data as possible pulled directly from there current host, then make the necessary DNS changes and reconfigure the Outlook clients to point to the new server over a weekend. So on Monday morning they are up and running.
I believe the current host is Exchange 2003 using Cached Exchange mode
New host will be Exchange 2007 with Cached Exchange mode
Any suggestions on the best way to accomplish this, keeping in mind that I have almost no control or tools on the current hosting side, I can get account usernames and passwords but that's about it. Rackspace of course will help with anything I need on their end.
Thanks for your suggestions.
