The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Outlook reverts back default settings and erro messg about memory

Asked by ssaver in Outlook Groupware Software, Windows XP Operating System

I have multiple users in different locations that are having some of the following symptoms. Not all have the same issues but the timing is odd. 5 with Office 2003 and 1 with 2007.
This just started to show up late yesterday and this morning, I think it has to do with a MS update but not sure. All machines have been scanned with MacAfee, Spybot and have Defender running. Most are behind a sonic wall, the remote systems have stand alone protection. All are set to update automatically.
The accounts are all POP3 we are not on exchange and are not connected via server and in one case she is a remote user.
Outlook is open (have task to do this) but it did not auto receive emails the setting are correct in options. Have to manually do the task. One other thing the remote user is using office 2007 and nothing I do is fixing her issues she can not send or receive, even manually she get the attached error message.

Some have mentioned a memory error message see attached. The atached is from the Office 2007 system noone else saved or wrote down the message.(don't you just love them)
Some go back to default outlook view setting anytime they restart outlook, some workafter the restart.
One had error that word was not responding I had to close Outlook via task manager and he is working fine now.(Office 2003)
So you can see not all have the same symptoms, I went to MS updates but nothing new posted today. A restart of Outlook sometimes works and reboot or shutdown sometimes works. A system restore did not work on the 2007 system.
I was able to create a new XP user and move everything over on the office 2007 system this worked. But found out I have 2 other 2007 users out there and would like to know if there is another quick fix.
I had not authorized Office 2007 yet. Since the most trouble was the office 2007 system this wold be my main concern the 2003 seem to be working now.Start Free Trial
