The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Outlook Signature Formatting
Tags: Microsoft, Outlook 2003
I crafted a very simple HTML signature for the company's outgoing emails.  The signature HTML has some inline styles (attached).  On 90% of the client machines it looks clean.  Unfortunately, on 10% machines, the signature's fonts or line spacing are altered.  Additionally, when the client machines with the clean looking signatures send email responses, the signature on the response sometimes looks bad.  I think the issue is associated with styles nested in the client Outlook Stationary.  The Stationary styles are combining with my in-line styles to create an ugly signature.  Here's the question: Can I modify the HTML in the signature to ignore all external styles (Stationary Styles) and only use the styles in the signature itself?

I added the CSS zone and deleted the duplicate question.  Let me know if you have a question about what I did.

Hi jdana,

The problem with CSS in email is that there are going to be some clients that don't handle it properly no matter how you go about doing this.  It's not like the browsers, where the bugs are well known but it is possible to be reasonably consistent.

To answer your actual question, if you inline the styles, those should take precedence over the stationery's style, but see above.  The client may interpret it in odd ways.

To achieve a more consistent layout from the above, I would redo the code to be more like so:

Scott, thoughts?
