Tried that - didn't work i'm afraid
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI have a user that is sending emails with an image in the signature, AFTER the email has been sent, the image appears to be compressed (when looking at the 'sent items' AND looking at the received e-mail.
I have received e-mails from the user, and cannot see any noticable compression or image degredation (i also attached a large sample image and didnt notice any compression with this either.
I can't see any general options for enabling/disabling image compression in Outlook 2003, but i 'have' double checked the picture format settings on an individual test e-mail (format picture > compression) and made sure that it wasnt set to use compression.
Their signature uses a table (i'm not sure if this is of any relevance - i doubt it).
I have tried different file formats, i've also recreated the signature using a clean image - none of which has made any difference!
Would be grateful for any help with this, as it's driving me mad!

I also had a user with this problem with Something auto compressing images in an email. I could not find a way to turn it off in outlook not sure that it is outlook doing the compressing in my case. Two ways to get around it though.
1. Dont attach the image in the actual email host the image somewhere (like imageshack) external and put its url in the html source. Best solution for a signature.
2. When you insert the image in outlook make sure it is pointing at your correct image > right click on the image > properties > browse the picture source to your full size image.

Just one user? in that case recreate the Outlook profile. Profile corruption is the source of many strange behaviours in Outlook. n Data\Microsoft\Outlook om/faq/new profile.ht m
You may first want to save away the address cache (the .nk2 file) which contains the addresses the user has prevoiusly sent successfully. You find the .nk2 file here:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Applicatio
If you do not know how to recreate a profile: http://www.howto-outlook.c
After recreating the profile you can restore the .nk2 file to the same location assuming you used the same name for the new Outlook profile.
