I run Exchange 2003 (English) and Outlook 2003 (Swedish).
2 weeks ago I started getting lots of NDR mail, so I enabled recipient filtering.
(ESM->Global->MessageDeliv
ery->prope
rties->Rec
ipient filtering->Filter recipients that are not in the directory, as well as ESM->AdminGroups->Servers-
>myServer-
>protocols
->SMTP->De
fault SMTP VirtualServer->Properties-
>General->
Advanced->
edit->Appl
y recipient filter)
Then I checked the queues and deleted some of the outgoing emails. After 2-3 days the spam slowed down and finally stopped.
However, now it's started again. And we're talking about about 5 email per minute that I recieve.
This is the message I recieve (partly in Swedish, partly in English) from the local System Administrator:
"Meddelandet nådde inte alla mottagare:
Ämne: Omega Watches
Skickat: 2008-04-20 10:32
Följande mottagare kunde inte nås:
helpline.lc@les.gov.mt den 2008-04-20 12:19
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.
<smtp1.datatrak.ws #5.1.1>
"
This is my rough translation of it:
"The message did not reach all recipients:
Subject: Omega Watches
Sent: 2008-04-20 10:32
THe following recipients could not be reached:
helpline.lc@les.gov.mt den 2008-04-20 12:19
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.
<smtp1.datatrak.ws #5.1.1>
"
It's not possible to see any headers for the email, so it seems it generated locally on my system.
Looking in the Queues now it doesn't seem that I'm sending NDR's or emails to these places.
I have checked that I'm not an open relay. I have checked it on many sites, and all answered that I'm not an open relay.
Does anyone have an idea of what I'm doing wrong?
