Exchange / Outlook Issue

Asked by ONYX in Outlook Groupware Software

Tags: Microsoft, Exchange, 2003, Outlook 2003

We have Exchange 2003 (running on Windows 2003) and Outlook 2003 running on XP Pro. We had a user that had an AD problem which forced me to delete his user account and mailbox.

I deleted him from AD and the exchange server, I copied his OST file for Outlook on his PC to a backup location.

I recreated his ID in AD and the Exchange Server and tried to copy his OST file to his new profile when he logged back into his PC, but Outlook said it was associated with a different user (even though I created his user id identically to the way it was before). I'm assuming he got a new SID or something equivalent and that's why it's not working.

So, I have his old OST and I want to import it or convert it into his new Outlook file. Does Microsoft have a tool that will do this? Or am I out of luck. I do have a backup, but it backs up the whole exchange database, not brick level.

Any advice would be most helpful .

Thanks
