The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Outlook show a square with a red X instead of picture in HTML messages

Asked by Biziteks in Outlook Groupware Software, Internet Explorer Web Browser

All of a sudden several computers in our office started showing a square with a red X in it instead of a picture in Outlook 2007. We use to be able to see them just fine. I've looked everywhere I can think of in Outlook, IE, Google, and online resources but I still can't find an answer to this one. I'd like to roll out a setting to prevent this with a GPO if possible and I'm assuming it's IE that's blocking it.

We've sent the email message to other people outside of our office running older version of Office and to runs running Vista SP1 wtih Office 2007 SP1 and all of them can see the images just fine. If I highlight the contents of the message and paste it into Word or if I just save the message as an HTML file straight from Outlook, the pictures showup just fine.

Within this message there are some embedded pictures and they show up fine. It looks like the ones getting blocked are on an internal webserver that's hosted on our LAN. The URL in the reference is an external address (i.e. www.blah.com/blah.jpg) but our internal DNS servers host our external zones. So I can go to www.blah.com from an office PC here without ever leaving the internal network. SO our firewall's not in play with this one; and like I said... the pictures show just fine as soon as I take the content out of Outlook.

Other posts I've seen on EE and elsewhere seem to point to an IE security setting. But no one seems to know the answer and I've already reset my security settings and made our website a trusted site.
