Browse All TopicsHi,
I need to find all the local and networked PST Files for over 1000 users to import them into an email archiving solution.
How does outlook 2003 and outlook xp store the file location of it's pst files? If I can retrieve that information then I can do the bulk of the work without need to go to users individually when they are logged on.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi, not quite what i'm after. I'll try to be a bit clearer.
What I want to know is where does Outlook (the program itself) store the location of each PST File added to the client. Is there a data file somewhere with the path and name of each pst?
I want to be able to interrogate the file and learn the location of each pst file that instance of outlook has associated with it.
I've already checked the registry and unless it's encyrupted the path I can't find the path in the registry.
Thanks
Each Outlook client has its own storage location as mentioned by other experts (Documents and Settings\gparikimandla\Loc
Alternatively you can store them at different locations on the local machine or on the shared drive as per the requirement and map accordingly.

By default, pst files are stored in their profiles. hive.pst
s_my_outlo ok_pst_fil e_located. html
Default location: C:\Documents and Settings\User Profile\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Arc
The Local Settings folder is hidden by default, to make it visible go to Control Panel, Folder Options, View tab, and show hidden files and folders.
