I have an interesting problem that I can't find any information on. I have searched and searched and keep finding the same things.
What I already know:
* Outlook has a "feature" that helps you by auto-completing the to:/cc:/bcc: fields while composing an e-mail.
* Outlook stores these files in a .nk2 file buried in the application data folder.
* Outlook obtains these addresses from two locations - one is from messages you send. Any time you manually address an e-mail or pull an address from an address book it adds that address to the .nk2 file for future use. The second place it pulls addresses from is the headers on incoming e-mail.
* The auto-complete addresses can be deleted by deleting the .nk2 file or arrowing down to the entry and pressing DELETE on the keyboard.
What I want to do:
* Disable the automatic retrieval of addresses on incoming e-mail.
* OR permanently FIX specific entries in the .nk2 file.
Here is an example / reason for what I'm trying to do:
we'll say for example that bob sends me an e-mail along with a bunch of other people. Let's say he spelled BrYan's name as Brian. This is incorrect and I have it listed correctly in my address book. BUT, when I go to compose an e-mail and start typing his name, the incorrect Brian shows up in the list first (because it sorts alphabetically) along with the correct Bryan. So I delete the incorrect entry, but bob has Brian in is contact list and sends me another e-mail - now the incorrect entry is back! Stop it!
Now I know what you're going to say - just call Bob and tell him to spell Bryan's name correctly. Well - it's not an isolated case, there are multiple instances like this. I want a FIX not a work around.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
