deleted outlook contacts

hi. i am distressed! # days ago I deleted all my contacts from outlook - I had many important numbers stored from the last ten years, and now ALL GONE and not backe up. Is there any way to retrieve them. I had backed them up on an O2 Atom Life PDA, however, when I took the battery out of it to place the sim inside, and then turned on again - THEY WERE GONE ALSO! Would it be easier or possible to retrieve them from the PDA somehow asa opposed to my PC and outlook.
I am an IT layman.
