The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Outlook 2007 and corrupt PST file. Connected to exchange.

Basically, Outlook 2007 has corrupt the local PST version of a user's mailbox. Outlook couldnt even pull down todays emails so I ran scanpst on the ost file in settings for outlook.

Because we use exchange, would it be best just to remove the account from outlook and join it to exchange again and then the mailbox would be downloaded again?

I logged into the web access and todays emails are there. Is it only worth running scanpst on a local only mailbox.

The mailbox is 6gb too, could this be how it got corrupt? The user did used to use entourage on a mac and eventually he has been moved to a PC which is standard at our office and our exchange server.

Perhaps outlook doesnt deal with massive mailboxes as well as entourage? He's the only user I have this problem with.

When running the repair option in scanpst on the ost file it seems to have frozen the computer with explorer.exe using 100% cpu.

With being exchange connect I presume there is nothing in the local pst that isnt in the exchange mailbox.

Am I right? Or is it possible that when the crash of outlook happened that caused the corrupt, the exchange mailbox could be damaged too and creating a new account/connect to exchange may result in the same problem?Start Free Trial
