As the title describes, I am looking for a way to mark junk email as read in Microsoft Outlook 2007. For those who use Outlook, you know that there is a system tray icon that appears if new mail comes in to your mailbox. I use this icon to know when I have new email waiting for me, even if I have other windows open on top of outlook.
Unfortunately, the new mail system tray icon also appears if there is new junk mail, and until I mark the new junk mail as read, it doesn't go away. I want to have all messages in my junk mail folder be marked as read automatically, so that the system tray icon only appears for non-junk email.
It seems as though this could be accomplished with a simple mail rule, but I can't find a condition of "if message is junk mail".
Any ideas?
