My team is see this error intermitently and I can't see to find ANYONE that has actually solved the problem.

Error Message: Cannot Display the folder. Your server administrator has limited number of items you can open simultaneously. Try closing messages, you have opened or removing attachments and images from unsent messages you are composing.

I've had this problem many many times.  The client is just not closing connections properly.

I'm not sure how to fix it but you can view th eobjects open in the exchange manager. Open the logons page of the mail store and add the column to the view.  It's something like 232 or there abouts.

If I turn off my virus scanner, it doesn't happen as often.

Have you looked at the offline/online factor? A user accessing the particular objects through offline folders shouldn't run into the limit of open items on the server.  try setting the outlook client in cache mode.

i found that this problem was resolved after I removed RPC settings in Connection tab from the profile.  I was connected locally using https over RPC....

i found the issue was with  Business Contact Manager i removed this and it resolved the issue.

We ran into this problem a lot after upgrading users to Outlook 2007,
particularly the users with laptops that connected and disconnected from the
LAN frequently (to go to meetings, etc)

We added this registry entry on the server as recommended by MS Support and
the problem went away:

Disable the session limit by setting the following value to 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem
Value: Disable Session Limit
