I'm at work now. Thanks for the response I'll check that as soon as I get home. Though I do think I tested it with smtp.hughes.net and had the same problem. I go through the steps in your link and post the results.

Browse All TopicsAfter 2 hours with hughes.net I finally got Outlook to receive messages so I don't have to go through their horrible portal. I thought all was good until I got this error, -
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'replaced@hughes.net'. Subject 'test', Account: 'hughes.net', Server: 'mail.hughes.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 5.7.1 <replaced@hughes.net>: Recipient address rejected: Access denied', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
Everything sent by outlook is refused buy ANY addressee. I can receive, but I cannot send to anyone from Outlook. I can send if I go through the Hughes.net portal. Just not from Outlook
Hughes.net is webmail.
Help and thanks. I really, really dont want to spend another 2 hours on the phone.

Same error except in now refers to the outgoing server as smtp.hughes.net
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'replaced@hughes.net'. Thanks for your help. I won't be back till Monday.
Can you send a message to yourself and get it? Also do you have a different Email program on another computer (e.g. Thunderbird) that you can try to use? It might be nice to try the smtp details and sending a message from another machine. Just to see if this might be related to your machine or Outlook.
Without being specific what do you have in the user name field? What about under the General tab in the first field? I am just trying to find out about the part in the error that mentions "Account: 'hughes.net'".
You did check that box for the Outgoing message needing authentication, right? It was in the instructions so let me know if you don't know what I am referring to or didn't see how to do it.
I will look for your reply on Monday then. Enjoy your weekend.

sabev,
/12/2/ 1278 .htm#Confi guring_Ema il_in_Micr osoft_Outl ook_XP for the Outgoing server set up. The server should use smtp.hughes.net. Also make sure you notice and check the steps that talks about the setting on the Outgoing Server tab.
What do you have for the outgoing server? It seems like you have mail.hughes.net. That isn't correct it seems. Look at the steps at http://kb.hughesnet.com/al
