What is the build of the Outlook 2007? Do you have the latest SP i.e. SP 2 applied to Outlook 2007?

Browse All TopicsLately, Microsoft Outlook 2007 has been going into the "not responding" phase on a relatively frequent basis. I can't tell if it's only when I am using Piniform Defraggler or not, but it definitely happens while it is running.
I'm using Microsoft Vista 64-bit with 8 GB of RAM and when Outlook stops responding, the CPU usage as well as the RAM usage is extremely low (between 1 and 4%).
I have only started running into this problem late last night when I had multiple applications open, and was not using Defraggler at the time. I was on the Internet about to download a file. This site I was on operated in the following manner:
After you click the download button, you need to wait either 60 or 90 seconds for the download to begin, and if you don't want to wait-then you can upgrade your membership..The countdown timer worked all the way down to allowing me to download and one second after the download started, all hell broke loose on my computer.
One by one, all of my applications started showing the "not responding" message and I could not close them. I tried to go the taskbar and close them that way but couldn't access it. I had feared that somehow I had contracted a virus. That was in spite of the fact that I have Norton Internet Security Suite.
After turning the machine off, and restarting it, it went into safe mode from where I ran a full system scan and did not come up with anything suspicious. I then closed down my machine the proper way, and restarted in non-safe mode.
Since that point, I have run a virus scan again and come up with no problems. However, like I said, several times Microsoft Outlook has gone into the not responding mode. I'm somewhat confused, since there are so many variables involved that might be causing the problem.
I don't know the impact to the system that Piniform Defraggler has. I also don't know if there is a more intensive virus and malware scan that I should use to see if there is a problem that Norton is not finding.
Any help you can provide in this area will be greatly appreciated.

I honestly cannot remember the site but in case you're wondering, it wasn't a high-risk porn site. It was business software. The thing that made me feel relatively safe was there Alexa rank was extremely high. I don't know, maybe that was my mistake. It turned out that nothing was downloaded, because my Internet access locked up also.
I've included the screen print with all the Outlook information. It looks like I have service pack two. What you think?
What happens if you open Outlook in safe mode, Start>Run>Type Outlook /safe? If it opens without any issues and stays like it is suppose to be then we have a Addin that's installed and needs to be taken care off.
Can you try Safe mode for Windows and disable all Non Microsoft Services and check if all your programs stays responding??
Run a Online Virus Scan @ http://housecall.trendmicr
and check if you can find any suspicious activity on the computer (Make sure that you run this scan in Normal Mode)
hey guys,
You got me curious as to what website I went to, so I spent some time going through my URL history file and found the website. It is http://rapidshare.com/inde
I tried to open Outlook and safe mode and received an error message-see screenshot.
Act3297, When you say "Have you tried installing and re-installing it yet." Do you mean uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook? If that's what you mean, I'm not sure which meant that I will have to re-open any PST files.
saakar_rao, I didn't understand what you meant when you said "Can you try Safe mode for Windows and disable all Non Microsoft Services and check if all your programs stays responding?" can you please elaborate a little bit?
Since I have so many files, I'm going to wait until I don't need my computer for several hours before running the online virus scan. I will report here with the results.
<For the screen shot> Its Outlook /safe there is a space between the Outlook and /safe..
By windows in Safe Mode I mean..
Start>Run> Type MSCONFIG, Goto Services Tab and check the box that says Hide all Microsoft Services, then click on disable all when all the non MS services are listed.
Then click the startup tab and click on Disable all
It will prompt you to restart the PC, go ahead and restart, open Outlook do your usual activities and check if that stays responding..

I just got done running Malwarebytes' Anti-MaLWARE and it found one issue. It is hijack.displayproperties, which after googling it, I am a bit nervous as to having had it with all the things that were said about.
Supposedly it was successfully deleted, at least that's what the software says. So, based on that, should I still try what saakar_rao suggested, or first see if I continue to get the Outlook Not Responding messages?
Interestingly enough, I did not see any posts or comments when I googled hijack.displayproperties, that anything to do with Outlook. All the comments related to problems that I have not been having. What does everyone think?
