Asked by: Soppy165

Error

The Add-in "Outlook Connector Extensions" (msncon32.dll) cannot be loaded and has been disabled by Outlook.  Please contact the Add-in manufacturer for an update. If not update is available, please uninstall the Add-in.

I had been using Outlook 2007 with an Exchange mail account to access my Hotmail account through HTTP.  Since last week I have had to install the Outlook Connector and use this MAPI profile.  I keep getting the error above.

Steps already tried.
1. Uninstalled Outlook, reinstalled.  With no problems.
2. Logged on as different user and used a new profile still got error.
3. Uninstalled connector and reinstalled.
4. I have checked to see if I have the latest version of Outlook connector.
5. I can access perfectly well on other machines running Outlook 2007, so my hotmail account is ok.
6. searched web for soloutions, registered the msncon32.dll

I've got this problem too!  Any other advice?

Kingofbytes, I am sorry to hear you have the same problem.  I wish someone would let us know of a solution as all the solutions I have found on the web have not worked.  I thought it was profile related but I log on as a different user and I still get the same error.  I'll probably upgrade my laptop in a few months and have a fesh build so will have to make do with accessing my emails through IE.  I can use the connector on all of my other machines.  It is very frustrating.

Does anyone have any clues on how to resolve this issue please?

Office is completly up to date.  I have uninstalled office 2007 and done a fresh install.  I have tried office 2007 Small Bussiness and professional editions.  Running professional edition at moment.  I am looking at the link you posted.

by: Soppy165Posted on 2009-10-03 at 00:42:57ID: 25484282

I have already seen that link and already tried it all the steps in it.  I have logged on as a different user on this problem computers and created a new a different profile but still get the same problem.  I can access my Hotmail account using Outlook Connector on a different computer running Outlook and Office 2007.

Back to drawing board.

The connector doesn't work if you have Exchange or Windows System Management tools loaded on your desktop

by: kingofbytesPosted on 2009-10-13 at 03:07:12ID: 25558334

@mwinick

This works just fine on my desktop with Exchange and just about all system mgmt tools loaded.  Perhaps you can post back your exact configuration, but it works for mine just fine!

by: mwinickPosted on 2009-10-13 at 08:05:46ID: 25560759

Well, it may work with the new Outlook Connector Beta-- which is what I assume you are running, no?  My Outlook Connector broke as soon as I installed the Exchange system mgt tools on my desktop.  Something to do with modifications to MAPI, I think.

by: Soppy165Posted on 2009-10-13 at 08:08:01ID: 25560786

I thought mine was fixed with the new beta version of the connector but it only worked once and now won't work.  I too have Exchange system mgt tools and all of the Active Directory mngt tools for Windows 2003 servers.  My laptop is used to administer my whole network/domain etc.

by: Soppy165Posted on 2009-10-19 at 13:08:36ID: 25608511

I have a new laptop and a new build of XP, Office 2007.  The Hotmail Outlook connector worked fine until I installed the Exchange Management Tools and Windows Admin Active Directory Mngt tools.

by: mwinickPosted on 2009-10-19 at 13:22:04ID: 25608647

yep.   In my case, even though  I attempted to uninstall the EX Mgt Tools and AD tools, the released version of the connector still won't work.  I have had to resort to the beta version of the connector-- which works-- sort of.  Only problem with the beta is you can't search your messages.

by: Soppy165Posted on 2009-10-19 at 13:59:29ID: 25608982

I've rolled back and uninstalled my Exchange Systems Management tools on my laptop, I am always connected to at least one server so I can make my exchange changes on one of my servers.  I'd rather have my hotmail working on my laptop.  I tried the beta version and it worked to begin with then stopped working completely.

Regarding, the problem where Instant Search does not find items in o2007. I had this problem after installing the beta version of the connector. The remedy was to rebuild the instant search index as detailed here.
