Question

Outlook 2003 recurrences issue

Asked by: Spec01

There was a user that created a recurrence meeting and has invited 5-10 people. This individual has since left the company. The AD account still exists but the Mailbox has been deleted. Is there any way to change the Organizer of the recurring meetings or sending out a cancelation on behalf? I just want to know if the recurrences can be removed without the meeting attendee's going through their calendar and manually deleting them?

Thanks in advance!

Well if each person goes to the appointment in the calendar and chooses to delete it, it will ask them if they want to delete just the one or the reoccurences as well.  If the mailbox has already been deleted for the person, I don't see how you would be able to use that account to revoke or cancel the meeting.  It would be easiest for them to just delete the meeting from there calendar and choose to remove all of them when it asks.

i'm sure there is a better way, but i would try this.

go into AD & give the person a mailbox again.
go into OWA (if you use it) or open outlook under that user's profile
the meeting requests should be there since the account was never deleted but if the meeting isn't there, have one of the invitees forward the recurring series to the user.  have the user accept the meeting request & THEN see if you can delete the recurrence.  b/c the AD was never deleted, it (Exchange) should recognize that the user with the restored mailbox was the organizer thus sending the cancel notification to the invitees.

I agree with akrdm - the best way would be asking users to delete by themselves, if you do not want them to do it manually - use exmerge and delete that specific calendar entry for each user. I
