outlook 2010 slows down or freezes the computer when attaching pdf files
computer run very slow or even freeze when attaching pdf files on outlook but works fine when attaching word, excel or any other files and also if copy pdf files and paste on outlook it works fine but if attach file directly it takes forever or freeze the machine. Adobe is uptodate, has performed a full virus/ spyware scan. PLease help.

Try launching Outlook in Safe Mode to see if this behavior persists or not with regard to attaching PDF documents. If the behavior does not persist, it is quite possible that a plugin in Outlook is culpable to the slowness issue, and if so, you will need to isolate each plugin and run the PDF attach test to determine which one it is.

can you please help, how do i find and isolate each plugin in outlook? thnx heaps
Did you try running Outlook in Safe Mode, and if so, did attaching PDF files work better this way?

Have the same issue here i think. The user reported this while running Office 2007 fully patched. Fortunatly the only user compaining sofar :-)
After some troubleshooting like deleting cache folder, new mailprofile, even complete new userprofile bo help. So I was hoping this would vanish with Office 2010. However the following symptoms:
Outlook >
When attaching pdf file after selecting the file and choosing attach outlook stop responding for a while. goes from 30 secs tup to +2 mins!
When saving a pdf file from a received email similar behavior is noticed. It takes forever to get the save where-window to open.
I tested in safe mode and the problem persists. Probably some other software/driver but....any tips?
Google didn't do it for me this time :-(

The last solution provided by DVEPPER might have been the best solution but could not be tested as we finally formatted the PC as it was taking too long to resolve the issue for aour user.
I am also experiencing the same issue with our Windows XP SP3 workstations running Office 2007, Symantec Endpoint Protection. If we attached a pdf file in Outlook via the attach button 8 of 10 times the application hangs for 3 minutes and then comes back around. We have also seen this same scenario happen when attaching a pdf file in OWA, Exchange 2010.
If Adobe Reader 10.1.1 is removed there are no further issues. If we boot up in Safe Mode there also seems to be no issues.
