how import windows live email on one pc into Outlook 2013 on another?

old PC has email in Windows live. I cannot use the export tool as it needs to have outlook installed on the PC.

New PC has Windows 8 (Ugh) and Outlook 2013. I have copied the "Windows Mail" folder containing all the .eml files to the new PC (just on desktop).

I cannot figure out how to import these old eml files into Outlook.

Any ideas???

You could install a trial of outlook just for the export.

any ideas where to get one? I went to Microsoft's site and you have to sign up for the office 365 and then cancel...

and what is oldest version I can use to export from windows live mail - I know I can get an outlook 2003 - but will that work???

2003? I guess it would.
But wait, it is no problem to get 2010 trials from here http://www.mytechguide.org/7943/download-microsoft-office-2010/ (please note that they link Microsoft download servers).

that site really isn't clear and is extremely frustrating - it's all ads - I downloaded the obvious link, but it was a full version which needs a key...

If you can figure out the exact link for me to download and send to me... would be much appreciated...

You can use a trial key on that one. Got one in the office that I could provide tomorrow.

However, I have no trial key for the download link I provided before which loads office 2010 Professional PLUS. I downloaded and installed - the key was accepted... but to use it, it must activate online - it won't activate...

Any other ideas???

OK - I hit cancel and it let me in.

But now I go into Windows mail to export messages and I get the same error - The export could not be performed. An error occurred while initializing MAPI.

Really? Don't know why, I guess it should work. Did you install outlook with all sub-elements? There will be import filters that have to be installed - it could be that those are not even in the outlook section but in the section of common office features or whatever office setup calls those. Have a look around, if unsure, install all of office common features and outlook.

other recommendation did not work (Microsoft would not activate the old version's trial and maybe that's why the export would not work???)
