Transferring Outlook "Contacts" over to a Surface

EE Pros,

Just bought a Surface Tablet and am quite impressed with it.  I've linked the outlook client to my go-daddy mail service (IMAP) and am now receiving my mail on several devices including my Surface.  Here's the question.  How best should I transfer my contacts over?  I could simply copy them from my in house server/desktop (master file).  I could export them to Excel and import them via the USB Port on the Surface...... I could transfer them up to Skype and download them (possibly).  I could open an Outlook.com file in the cloud and transfer them there..... (may be the best approach in order to insure synchronization)..... many choices it seems.

Any advise?

B.

What would have  been helpful is to identify the file type you search for and to be able to then copy it over into the new Outlook contact file.  Also, what about synchronization?  is there any way to keep multiple Outlook Contact Files in sync on different devices?

Thank you,

B.
