[Outlook] Migrating from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2013

I'm in the process of migrating my applications from an older PC (with Win2000 and Outlook 2002) to a newer PC (with Win7 and Outlook 2013) and I want to know what is the process.

Here's what I've got in my current Outlook:
(1) 8 PST files (each approx 2GB)
(2) Approx 500 message folders
(3) Approx 50 folder shortcuts (I guess in Outlook 2013 they are called Favorites)
(4) AddressBook with approx 300 contacts
(5) Approx 20 email accounts
(6) Approx 5 send/receive groups (they control the frequency of send/receives for the various email accounts)
(7) Approx 200 rules (they control where outbound and inbound messages are stored)
(8) Approx 30 signatures

On my system, the Outlook related suff is stored in the following folders.
   (1) \Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
              (a) Outlook data files  (.pst)
              (b) Mailbox file  (.pab)
   (2) \Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
              (a) A set of 3 OutlookProfile files   (.fav , .nk2 , .srs)
              (b) Outcmd.dat
              (c) Outlprnt
   (3) \Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures
              (a) Signature files   (.rtf, .txt, .htm)
   (4) \Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\
              (a) Address book  (.wab)

Regarding the Mailbox (pab) AddressBook (wab) files...
On these files, the LastDateModified is 2009. I guess they are no longer used. Perhaps I created them in error at one time.

QUESTIONS:

(1) I believe that the PST files contain the Email Folders and Messages.
Do these files need to be coverted or imported into the new system, and if so, what is the procedure?
Or is it just simply a matter of copy/pasting them into the appropriate folder?

(2) I believe that the Profile contains the FolderShortcuts, EmailAccounts and Send/Receive Groups.
Do these files need to be coverted or imported into the new system, and if so, what is the procedure?
Or is it just simply a matter of copy/pasting them into the appropriate folder?

(3) I believe that the Rules are also part of the Profile. However, I know that they can be exported into a  RWZ file.
What is the procedure for getting them into the new system?

(4) Where is the AddressBook stored and what is the procedure for getting it into the new system?

(5) What is the procedure for getting it the Signature files into the new system?
Is it just simply a matter of copy/pasting them into the appropriate folder?
I believe they belong in     \Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook

(6) What are the Outcmd.dat  and  Outlprnt  files?
Are they needed on the new system?

NOTE:   I've googled around but haven't found anything specific for Outlook 2002 to 2013 migrations/conversions.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First make sure your PST file remains safe on the old PC and COPY it over to the new PC.

Set up an Email Account, see where the small PST file goes (so you know). Then import your PST into your new account. This will correct errors on the way by.

Outlook no longer uses a PAB or WAB file, so you want to be sure your Contacts are complete before beginning the above step.

I would not worry about favourites (they will rebuild in the new system). But you should be able to bring over your NK2 file and import it. Outlook no longer uses NK2 files.

Copy files over into a neutral location (say c:\temp) and import what you need to provide a cleaner Outlook system.

Hi John:

Thank you for responding.

I checked the Import function and see there are only 4 file types of imports:
(1) Import from ICalendar files (.ics and .vcs)
(2) Import from another program or file
(3) Import RRS feeds from an OPML file
(4) Import RRS feeds from the Common Feed list

I imported two of my smaller PST files.
One of them is the primary PST, which contains the following folders:
(1) Calendar
(2) Contacts
(3) Deleted Items
(4) Drafts
(5) Inbox
(6) Outbox
(7) Sent Items
(8) Tasks

Items 1, 2, 8 went into the Calendar, AddressBook and Tasks on the new system.
Items 3-7 went into corresponding folders on the new system.

However it does not seem as though the following got imported via the PST files:
(1) Email accounts
(2) Send/receive groups

I'm also not sure if the Rules and Signatures were imported.
At least I don’t know how to find them.
In the old system they were found via the menu...
(1) Tools/Rules
(2) Tools/Options/MailFormat/Signatures

I'm very confused with the new interface.
I added "Manage Rules & Alerts" and Signature to the Ribbon. However they are greyed out, so they wont open.

You said that my old FolderShortcuts would be rebuilt as Favorites in the new system.
I don’t see them in Favorites.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the explanations.

> You should do an Office Repair

Ok, I just did Repair -- to no avail.
