Question

How to use/deploy gpupdate /force- trying to force disable Auto Archive

I have downloaded the template for office in order to disable auto archive on all client machines- did choose disable after, I restarted a clients machine and I was still able to run auto archive- i was told by another expert to use gpupdate /force- How do I run this??  Thanks!!

go to command prompt on the group policy server and run gpupdate /force

even from client mahcines you can run gpupdate to check for new policy changes

to make sure that the settings are applied to all the machines....enforce the group policy

I ran that on the exhange server as well as a clients machine and I checked the event viewer and it was accepted with no errors yet they are still able to run auto archive.  You mention forcing- is that different than gpupdate, if so how do I force??

ok...go to the group policy management console and right click that specific group policy and click enforce

yesterday I had found another way to deploy and while waiting for your reply I went back to that page again and I did what it said on a local machine and it works- it doesn't even show auto archive, but I want to make sure this is an OK way to do it.  Here is the link to the page- i did both steps- i would paste it in but it's to lengthy.  http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/policies.htm-  is this an OK way to do it??
