300 is too much i guess.....

Are you guys on a deal or what ?

by: jerrithPosted on 2001-05-21 at 22:31:10ID: 6106154

It's worth 300 to me because it's a problem I've been struggling with for months now.
I've allready got a great way to display the attachments, but this is useless if I can't hide the original ugly tables.
Maybe Iris should consider a field like $V2AttachmentOptions to hide attachments in RTF (and call it $V6AttachmentOptions for all I care).

Hi JM,

here comes the marvel code :-)

At the end of the page, in the last line of the form, place this text:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE=JavaScript>

Mark this line as:
Pass-ThruHTML

That is all :-))

Ok, this is all and it works as you requested...
but, I know, this is not realy worth 300 bucks ;-)

My marvel code is not this line, but something totaly different. Perhaps you are interested in it?
It is not my idea, but I tryied it and found it was great. So let me make you hot ;-)
Suppose: you have for a application the search feature in web,
and you do not like this uggly gifs in front of every hit in the result  table...
How to make it disappear?

(...and is this 300 bucks worth?)

Tell me more... <|:-)

by: jerrithPosted on 2001-06-07 at 22:32:27ID: 6166528

Sure, that's 300 points worth. Sounds interesting. Bring it on stamp, if I like it you'll get an A grade, if I don't................. you'll still get an A grade I guess ;-)

by: jerrithPosted on 2001-06-07 at 23:25:39ID: 6166602

I tried this, added that line as the very last line in my code, but it didn't work. My form is still displaying those ugly tables to display attachments.
I can hide the attachment tables when I hide the rich text field in which they are attached, but I don't want to do that, because I still want the text entered in this field to be displayed.
Please advice, stamp.

Sorry JM,

I do not understand this :-)
I see totaly another page with attachments, but never mind...

So again: do you want to let disapear the blue horizontal ruler and all text below it?

How do you place the <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> line bellow this <HR> line?

For this code with search form it is also no problem: you get it. But just now I am getting points in JavaScript EE topic area :-)
This is because I switched my account from stamp to: zvonko
So I need more and more points. Would it be possible to give this points (and perhaps this search-JavaScript code) not to give it stamp, but to give it: zvonko <|:-))
It would be kind from you []{:-))

So long,
zvonko

Just tell me exactly what is on the form you used to hide those ugly attachment tables domino creates when you use a rich text field displayed with the editor applet and I'll figure it out from there.
I've tried it on my form, but it won't work.

by: zvonkoPosted on 2001-07-20 at 11:21:23ID: 6303190

Hello JM,

sorry for the delay ;-)

...but finaly here the definite solution for you.

place in upper left corner as first hidden field on your form this field:
FieldName: DumpEnd
FieldValue: "  ' >"
Make it allways hidden.

As last text on this form place this PassTrough text:
[<input type=hidden name=dump value='

Look for the form property: GenerateHTMLforAllFields
(in propeler hat tab/ beanny tab).
That's all.

Good luck,
zvonko

by: zvonkoPosted on 2001-07-20 at 14:53:13ID: 6303819

only to get sure: the PassThrough text has to contain this single apostroph:
[<input type=hidden name=dump value='

This drops all following HTML code into the the html variable with the name: dump
To end the dump variable you define this DumpEnd as the first hidden field
to wait to close the html code for the dump field definition.

So html code generated by Domino for the attachments disapears into the dump variable...

You see?

<|;-)

by: jerrithPosted on 2001-07-22 at 23:48:01ID: 6307386

Thanx, for the suggestion, zvonko.
I found another way to do it :
I've created another Richtext-field as the first field of the form and also have it use the Java-applet.
The field has the following options to hide it from the user :
Hide-when read
and in the HTML-tab the following in the Style field : "display: none".
Now, the ugly tables are gone forever and I can display my attachments the way I like.

Anyway, your suggestions is the closest to an answer, so you get the A-grade :-)

by: zvonkoPosted on 2001-07-23 at 04:19:50ID: 6308027

Thank's JM ;-)

seam you still remember my grade B for zero points :-)

Anyway, thank you for the points. I need them to rearise from ashes.

Regards,
zvonko

by: jerrithPosted on 2001-07-23 at 04:29:17ID: 6308061

You're welcome. So next time, I get an A too ;-))

Dear all,

I have the same problem, but nothing of that, what you have tried, seems to work for me?? I still get this strange table.

</pre>
<p>
<table border="1" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="4">
<tr valign="middle"><td><a href="path/view/M2/image.jpg!OpenElement"><img src="/icons/medoc.gif" border="0" hspace="4" align="middle" alt="">imagename.jpg</a></td><td><B>Type: </B>image/jpeg<br>
<B>Name: </B>imagename.jpg</td></tr>
</table>

I have several richtext fields on my form and use html for web access. HTML is generated for all fields.

Any more ideas before I change and mess up my whole form?
regards

kisik

Hi, Kisk.
Since this question we've gotten a bit smarter and it's actually pretty simple to hide those ugly tables for attachments:

Here's the things to do:
1) At the top of your form include a rich text field, with the option to use the applet
2) in the HTML-properties of the field add "display:none" (don't include the quotes) in the Other field of the properties
3) include your file-upload control anywhere you want, the attachments will be added to this field and not to subsequent rich text fields, thus will not be shown, because the rich text field is hidden.

That's it.
