Question

Viewing same document twice in same view

Asked by: JeanBisson

I've designed a database in Lotus Notes 4.6.5.  In the document there are 6 numeric fields (there are other fields but these are the ones I'm concerned about).  What I am trying to do is to create a view where if there is data in document 1 and field 1, the document is shown in the view.  My problem is I want to be able to show the same document 1 and this time show field 2 if there is data in that field as well, and so on.  It must be viewed as a separate document, not as the same.

If this is possible, does anyone have the solution to my problem.

Thank you.

JB

Have you tried to combine the fields into one field which can take multiple values? Then in view use the "Show multiple values as seperate entries" property?

Hope this helps.

Hello JB,

my proposal is simelar to deonva's.

place as column formula this:
Field1:Field2:Field3:Field4:Field5

The colon is a list operator. This shows in column not one big string but multiple values.

Define for this column Multy-value separator the NewLine char or make it categorized.

Regards,
stamp

Yours is a better solution than mine stamp. No changes needed on his side then.

You are both sending me on the right track.  I am getting almost the result I need.  Unfortunately I didn't specify that the other fields related to each of the numeric fields are currency fields which must be totaled in the view.  I tried using the currency field in the same format you are explaining above but the total was only using the first value in the currency field of each document.

How can I get in the view each different value of the currency fields displayed with the total working properly?

Thanks for youe help.

JB,

You should use both of the experts proposal, Combine the list of fields as proposed by Stamp and then mark the column with show mulitple values as seperate entries as proposed by deonva.

And then sort the column by ascending/descending this will seperate values as documents.
&
Then use totalling.

As far as totalling you are looking for we have vague idea. Just post the layout that you wish to have.

...and trim the list of fields to avoid empty entries:
@TextToNumber(@Trim(@Text(Field1:Field2:...)))

After all: you state that you only want to display field2 if it contains data (and it was a numeric field)
