Unhiding a Hidden Design, The Easy Way

Oliver Blion
07 Oct 2002, Rating 2.50 (out of 5)

I have seen numerous methods for unhiding db designs, all involving many steps and other products.

Why not simply use notes to do it the simple way. Use the archiving function already in R5.

Code

Enable archiving on the Db.

Db properties Dialog: Set the Archive settings.Do not tick any settings for any documents as you donot want any documents only design. Note: locate where archive will be created.
Select Db to be unhidden.
File - Database - Archive (ensure your have Manager access and all the appropriate roles)
All done. The archive version is fully unhidden.
After that you can create templates, etc to alter and apply any changes.

No mucking around with Hex editors or the original db. Nice and safe to perform.

by: CRAKPosted on 2002-10-25 at 11:49:20ID: 7370521

I'll take a better look around next time! When driving there I usually keep my eyes on the two little red lights ahead of me, since they are commonly mounted on cars with a strange urge to stop all of a sudden!
Had that a while ago as well: in the middle of the highway the car in front of me hit the brakes with no warning at all! I always thought one was not allowed to stop on the highway! Oke... there was a traffic jam... but still: that's quite a tricky thing to do with me behind you!

by: oosterbaanPosted on 2002-10-25 at 12:28:06ID: 7370628

Well, maybe i'll meet you sometime on the highway (I hope not, because I'm also a FireFighter and work often with the "Jaws of life", to help people like you get out of there cars, but often horizontally (-:

Yikes!  Better stop tailgating CRAK!

by: CRAKPosted on 2002-10-26 at 05:35:02ID: 7372358

I wasn't doing so.... only the slightest distraction is enough to have/cause an accident. You only learn that once it's too late! And it makes you feel sooooo dumb!

by: snocrossPosted on 2002-10-28 at 05:31:54ID: 7378252

Was everybody ok in your accident?

by: ArunkumarPosted on 2002-10-28 at 06:10:03ID: 7378388

**** !

What a coincidence.  I met with an accident on friday evening.  And I am perfectly alright but my beemer is gone.
She saved me and got hurt pretty badly.

It was single single in the car and I slipped off the freeway to 210 ft down to a ditch into the bushes breaking the fence on the highway.  No one was hurt and it was only one car involved in the accident and that was mine.

I am okay. I have a rental car now.  It was the rainy day that was the cause for all this mishap.

:-(
Arun.

by: snocrossPosted on 2002-10-28 at 06:24:34ID: 7378463

Wow Arun, I am glad that you are ok.  I am assuming you have good car insurance, correct?  How fast were you going in the rain my friend?

by: snocrossPosted on 2002-10-28 at 06:25:38ID: 7378471

PS: Did you get to see your girlfriend at least?

by: ArunkumarPosted on 2002-10-28 at 06:44:55ID: 7378544

I think i have a better insurance. At the worst case i might lose 500 dollar deductable. Which is fine.

The posted was 65 and i am sure i did not go even 65 because it was raining heavily. All i did was trying to change a lane and that was it.

GirlFriend on hearing this sought the help of one of my friend who happened to live in the same apartment complex, and he drove her to the bus station at 12:15 in midnight. She got a bus at 12:30 and came to pittsburgh next day at 6:30.  I called another friend in pittsburgh to pick her up from the bus station and drop her at the hotel where i was staying.  She reached me on saturday 9:30.

And i took a rental and While i am coming back to Detroit i dropped her at Toledo-Ohio so that she can go back to DC.
She was really worried I say...

Anyway, my girlfriend is leaving to india on the 6th November and the next time she comes back will be as my wife!

:-)
Arun.

by: CRAKPosted on 2002-10-28 at 12:14:55ID: 7380035

Whooooow! Congrats buddy. On that "wife" thing....
When are you leaving for India? When is the big day?

Sorry to hear about the accident. Pity about the car, but glad you're ok!

My crash was only a small one. Traffic was still a bit jammed, so how fast did I really go? 50 km/h max. before I hit the brakes (could still cause quite some bruses etc., right Bob?). The nose went down pretty steep from breaking so the actual speed on impact was lower. The airbags did not even need to inflate! The hood got bended, the bumper needed replacing as well as the radiator behind it. Most damage done was to my ego.
The car in front of me only had a few scratches on his bumper, most of them from my car's front bouncing up again. Glad that the guy driving it kept his cool!

by: snocrossPosted on 2002-10-28 at 12:36:25ID: 7380141

Man, how fast did you change lanes to skid out of control?  Wow, sounds like you had a tramatic weekend!  I did not know you were getting married so soon, congrats!  So does this mean you will be moving to live together?

by: ArunkumarPosted on 2002-10-28 at 12:40:43ID: 7380163

I dont know how fast i was driving. But definitely not the posted limit way below that....

Yeap! She will be coming to Detroit and stay live with me.
Her project is over as of Oct 31st.

I dont know what you meant by so soon. My parents are okay with this proposal I guess. We are waiting for her parents to approve and then fix a date of marrage and make arrangements and stuff like that.  It definitely will take a good 4-6 months for everything to happen at the least.

Lets wait and see how everything works out.

-Arun.

by: snocrossPosted on 2002-10-28 at 12:44:50ID: 7380192

I didn't mean you were driving fast in mph, but if you also turn the wheel fast or brake fast it will be just as dangerous as driving fast.  Basic inertia.

Good for you Arun, your life will be that much better plus you will not need to drive every weekend!  You will have to throw away your porn collection though!

by: ArunkumarPosted on 2002-10-28 at 13:06:48ID: 7380302

Well, thats the hardest part.  I think I have convinced my girl to have those collections.  I have promised her that I wont watch them but have them as collectibles...

Hee Hee Hee...

by: snocrossPosted on 2002-10-28 at 13:09:23ID: 7380316

Yeah well I remember my wife saying it was ok and now years later I have thrown them all in the trash!  She said it was ok but she complained about it.

by: ArunkumarPosted on 2002-10-28 at 13:13:39ID: 7380334

Oh then I will follow you.  You are my bro right ?

by: snocrossPosted on 2002-10-29 at 06:15:10ID: 7383064

Yes.  Maybe your wife will be more understanding...

by: ArunkumarPosted on 2002-10-29 at 06:30:43ID: 7383124

Yup! She is already more understanding and she is more than upto my expectations.  So, there should be no harm in me living up to her right ?  Just a give and take.

Is this called as compromising ?

by: snocrossPosted on 2002-10-29 at 07:06:24ID: 7383319

Yes you have to compromise but you should know what to expect up front too.

by: CRAKPosted on 2002-10-29 at 10:09:19ID: 7384192

Does that mean you guys get your bookmarks inspected as well? You poor chaps!
Make sure your system blocks installation of netnanny before it's too late!  ;-))

by: snocrossPosted on 2002-10-29 at 12:29:26ID: 7384706

Ahh, I never bookmark that stuff because I use my work laptop at home.  My home PC never gets used, instead we fight over the laptop... can't leave evidence behind on my laptop!

by: CRAKPosted on 2002-10-29 at 12:53:05ID: 7384773

Do you do worry about it...! She does have you under the thumb!
What a good thing to know! How's the expression again? "Anything you say can and will......"
