The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Can a single users with multiple connections cause the router to crash?

Asked by rk4058 in Lotus Notes

Tags: connection, server

I am on Domion 6.03 with 6.03 clients on Win2k workstations. I have one user (out of 75) that when she connects to her mail db it shows multiple connections (as many as 25 on one occassion) when you issue "sh users". I have tried reloading the client with no change. Although this isn't my main problem, I am trying to eliminate it as a source of my main problem. I am having problems where my system stops sending mail and gives messages like "12/02/2004 01:55:40 PM  Router: No messages transferred to CLEARCHANNEL.COM (host external.CLEARCHANNEL.COM) via SMTP: The server is not responding. The server may be down or you may be experiencing network problems. Contact your system administrator if this problem persists.
12/02/2004 01:55:44 PM  Router: Failed to connect to SMTP host CLEARCHANNEL.COM because The server is not responding. The server may be down or you may be experiencing network problems. Contact your system administrator if this problem persists." Once it starts this, it will not send any outbound messages to any domain. I have tried stopping my Norton AV Enterprise edition Notes DB scanner, restarted DNS client,  and restarted Domino with no help. Also issued the "tell router quit" and "tell smtp quit" then issued "load router" and "load smtp" to try and kick start the process. The only thing that will start the system sending again is a reboot. Once rebooted, it will deliver all mail in mail1.box and mail2.box and it can run for a few hours up to about 2 weeks before occurring again. I have added the SMTP debug command in the notes.ini file today and will be watching for some useful entries next time it happens. (But I'm sure it will not matter as you are going to give me the correct answer today so I won't have a "next" time. Also, we have been using Domino since 1997 (ver 3.xx) and have upgraded through 4 and 5 to ver 6.03. We did move the whole thing to another server early this year, but had no problems until early October. Could one of the MS patches have caused a conflict? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
