The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Domino 6.0.3 to Exchange 2003 -Small Env. Migration.

Asked by Housenet in Lotus Notes

Hello,
I have a client running Domino 6.0.3. The org has approx 20 mailboxes and is a single server installation. We have sold them on the idea of moving away from this to exchange 2003 server hosted on their current root 2003 DC. Although Domino is arguably a much better platform, the thruth is we are exchange experts and dont really know much about Domino.

I have ready through the instructions and details of using the exchange migration wizard to migrate Domino and noticed many modifications and alterations must be performed on the domino server. Clients must be reconfigured to allow access to their mail store by a migration account... We have decided that based on past experiences with "domino instructions" we will NOT be using this procedure.

The procedure will be as follows
1. Install Exchange 2003. Setup internet connectors. Setup user mailboxes.
2. Change the firewall policies to direct email to exchange and not the Domino server.
3. At this point all new emails will flow into exchange, and domino is now a historical reference.
4. Verify the email functions. Load AV for exchange etc...
5. Import user mailboxes from one or more client stations using a client side tool.
-Complete the process for all 20 mailboxes...
-Add extra email address aliases etc..

*After researching this a little yesterday I did find a few utilities that seem to be able to suck a mailbox, appointments, contacts from Lotus 6 client into Outlook installed on the same stations...
-We like the idea of not having to mangle the Domino and Exchange server just to import 20 users...
-We feel doing this as a client side activity will reduce the risk of something going wrong with the Domino server, or having to rely on instructions that do not produce the results we expect..

Ideally we can use one or more stations configured with Lotus6 client and Outlook 2003. We would prefer a direct import into an exchange mailbox, but are willing to settle for a two step process invloving export to PST first.

QUESTION:

Which one of these client side tools have you used before or trust will do this 100%?
