I have a files with .123 extension. And it's clear that this is Lotus 123 files.
I don't have lotus 123 software, thus I can't open it.
I have tried to rename the files to .xls format using DOS Prompt. Yet, doesn't recognise the format.
Any ideas what can i do to open this files??

Friend, I see the Microsoft Word can open the Lotus-123 files. But after I choose that file type, I couldn't locate my .123 extension files.
meaning to say that the file that I am trying to open is not Lotus 123 files?
Impossible, I can see the properties of the file is 123 file type. What else could be.
In the filename dialogue box in Word, instead of entering a file name enter *.wk* as it is possible that you are trying to access Lotus123 files that pre-date the .123 file extension scheme. Before the .123 extension scheme Lotus123 files had the extesions of .wk1 .wk4 etc. The *.wk* will list all the older Lotus123 files.

I was having the same problem. No excel would not open it. Not sure why. I think newer lotus files are .wk? not .123.
However, this viewer is handy and free:

Works great. You can copy the data and paste into excel.

You can open lotus.123 files using many word processors by specifying the file type in the 'open file' dialogue box. You will often lose the formulae but if you only need the data (values) then it is OK. You should not need to rename the files at all.
If you use Excel to open the Lotus.123 files and select the file type to open you should not lose any of the formulae although you may need adapt them to Excel type formulae.
