Alot of times this can result from installing under one user, then logging on as somebody else. I always have to install under the username that will be using approach.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI have installed Lotus Smartsuite both to a file server followed by a node install and a normal install. When logging on I can open lotus 123 and wordpro but when trying to open Lotus Approach I am getting the following message : "Couldn't find SmartIcons. Please run INSTALL.EXE to install (or re-install) Lotus Approach"
This is on a windows 2000 machine.
Can anyone help ?
Cheers

Try this. It worked for me and the Windows 2000 machines that I take care of at work.
1. Log in as an administrator (or have your admin do this).
2. Run regedit.exe.
3. Highlight the HKEY_CURRENT_USER-Software
4. Go to Registry-Export Registry File and navigate to the c:\winnt directory.
5. Save file as Lotus.reg.
6. Log in as user (you) and double-click on c:\winnt\lotus.reg. You must run this file for each user on the machine that will be using Approach.

I'm guessing here.... assuming you already tried reinstallation: a\W32
Check the INI-file to see where it refers to. I'm a Lotus Notes guy myself, but a lot of things act the same.
In notes (under NT) its the following setting:
WinNTIconPath=c:\notes\dat
In the specified path, there are *.SMI files (smarticons) and *.MAC files (macro's behind them). Names left of the dot are typically the same!
You could try to change the INI to connect it to your dir containing those files.....
