Hi all. You all helped me about a month ago try to come up with a way to have a list of 2000 or so products appear in a list that is at least partially searchable. I finally did use field type "dialog list" to get it to work. Inside dialog list, you can choose list of values from a formula or from a column in a view (there are a few others, but these are the ones I am going to talk about).
If you pull the dialog list up using the access view/column info, it is perfect. It allows you to start typing the product name and has a box saying "starts with." HOWEVER, I have code for a field to pop up if "NOT IN LIST" is chosen. If I choose "Not in List" this other field IS NOT popping up. It will not refresh the document after I pick my choice from the dialog list. Then, the next time I hit any type of dropdown or dialog list or checkbox, etc., all of sudden the field will pop up because the document refreshes.
BUT, if in the field type dialog list you use the "formula" option and just put in the formula to pull from the column you need...and then choose "NOT IN LIST," it WILL refresh and the box pops up. So, YAH, right? NOPE. If you choose the formula option, the dialog box will not allow the "starts with" box and essentionally get me back to square one. If I type CO, it will go the C's and then to the O's. Whereas, in the first example (accessing view column), if I type in CO it will go to the COs (what I need).
I hope you guys are following. I think it is a bug of some sort. So, my question becomes, is there a way to force a refresh while still in the field? I know it is a field parameter and it is checked (believe me), but not working (BUG). Can I put some kind of code onSelect or onExit that will help? If so, what would that code be?
Thanks for your help. I am sure I managed to confuse the crap out of everyone. If you play around in Lotus Desiger, you will see what I mean (version 8.0.
