fanpages,
Thanks for the reply. I'm not familiar with these files at all - I'm primarily a .Net developer trying to help out the Finance guy in the next cubical :-)
I started Excel with the /s switch and did not get the error so sounds like we're on the right track.
Found the xlstart folder but it is empty. I was not able to locate personal.xls - should this exist?
Version is 9.0 SR-1.
I suspect this still points to a corrupt add-in? Do you have a recommended solution outside of reinstalling Office? We can do this, but you know how long it takes to install the #*$&$ thing!
Thanks,
Frodoman

Hi,
Yes, it does sound like an Add-In or a file within the "XLStart" folder, or even the "personal.xls" file.
Are you familiar with locating each file and eliminating these from the MS-Excel environment?
Alternatively, you may like to start Excel as follows:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" /s
To ignore any start-up files.
If the error is not present using the "/s" switch, then you can be sure that the problem is Add-In/Startup related.
BFN,
fp.
PS. Which version of MS-Excel (in case solutions differ in later advice).
