Browse All TopicsI have two columns like this:
A B
1 1MM100001
2 1MM100002
3 1MM100003
..
..
11328 1MM111328
11329 1MM111329
11330 1MM111330
In my workbook I have several thousand records of test data similar to this; or at least I would like to. Column A is a simple number, increasing by one for each row. Column B is the text "1MM1" and then a number based on Column A, padded with zeros. (Column B is always 9 characters long)
I have written a formula for Column B like this:
="1MM" & Format(A1, "00000")
But this doesn't work. It just says: #NAME?
I'm guessing you can't use Format() in Excel formulas. Could anyone tell me the right function I should be using, or correct my syntax, to fill Column B?
Thanks in advance,
Derek
