I have an excel workbook that has some VBA code that automatically updates information from a SQL server database 10 times a second. The VBA puts the information directly into cells, and then other cells perform calculations on that. Some of the cells hold values that I input manually. Now here's the problem... when I highlight a cell to change one of the values that is used in the calculations of other cells, the spreadsheet will close without warning. No debugger, no error message and no saving of the sheet.
I guess what I need is either the calculations to use the former value of the cell until it is de-highlighted, or the spreadsheet to stop calculating while the cell is active. Other suggestions are welcome, it doesn't really matter to me how this gets solved as long as the sheet stops closing.
Oh, also it's probably important to note that if I change the value in the cell and de-highlight (by pushing enter or something) the cell before the update sub routine is fired the sheet does not crash.
Also, it would be great to know why excel does this, if anyone has any information on this. This isn't the first time I've seen this problem. It happens on any computer I try it on, with Office 2000 and XP both, with all current service packs and updates, but also with previous service packs and updates. I assume this behavior is by design by MS, but I don't know why.
Thanks,
Teg
