Need vbscript to Act on Checkboxes on Sheet

I have a form that is used to monitor the activity of numerous individuals. Each individual is listed on a row. The various activities are listed in columns. Each activity has three checkboxes (The activity takes up three actual columns, with each checkbox in its own column). The first checkbox indicates when the individual was assigned the activity. The second indicates that they have started the activity. The last indicates that they have ended the activity.

I need the first checkbox to display a msgbox when checked. The text for the msgbox needs to come from a specific cell on the second sheet. This cell will contain instructions on completing the activity. Ultimately, I would like the text in that cell to read something like, "[Name], please go and pick up thirty boxes of paper at the store". When the user checks the checkbox, the msgbox would popup, display the previously mentioned text, but would replace the [Name] with the person's real name (which is listed in the first column of the main sheet). There are alot of ways to accomplish this, I'm sure.

Second, I need the last checkbox to disable (gray-out, whatever) the first and second checkbox. That is, when the individual completes the activity, I want the first two checkboxes to be disabled. The user should be able uncheck this box and have the other checkboxes re-enabled.

Lastly, I want a button at the top of the sheet that resets all of the checkboxes.

A few notes. Each individual will have thirty checkboxes. There may be up to 40-50 individuals on the form. I don't want this to be too slow, so any input on this part of the design is welcome.

I'm asking for this help, because I don't understand how Excel or Word implement Visual Basic. I'd love to learn, but I don't know where to turn. The answer to this particular question is not telling me where to find out, although that would be appreciated.
