Sub folders will not open to perform a Save or Save As

I have a machine running Windows Xp and using Office 2002 with service pack 3 installed.  Recently Excel and Word will not allow the user to Save or Save As to a any sub folder in My Documents or Desktop without pausing and locking up.  Saving to My Documents and Desktop without a sub folder is ok.  I tried an uninstall of Office and installed again and have also searched for updates, viruses, spyware and have attempted the Detect and Repair option as well and nothing has worked.Start Free Trial
