Question

Congratulations to our Wizard—LoNeRaVeR9

Asked by: byundt

I must apologize for having missed his Wizard certificate announcement, but the LoNeRaVeR9 will not be denied. Jaes earned his certification in mid-July with an unfailingly sunny outlook and answers covering the gamut from user interface tricks to VBA macros. This has taken him from ground zero to a place on the top 15, all in the first seven months of the year.

One of the more instructive experts frequenting the Excel TA, Jaes regularly takes the time to teach the Asker how the proposed solutions works. And he has the knack of shifting gears so the neophyte is not left in the dust, and the IT veteran has plenty of meat to chew on.

Some of his recent questions that I found interesting:
A great many nifty things can be done with a simple right-click and a bit of VBA: http:/Q_21987781.html
Starting Excel files in separate windows: http:/Q_21933118.html
Encouraging a frequent Asker to try her hand answering questions: http:/Q_21934080.html
Rberke gets a keystroke buffer, Rory is chuffed, and Jaes takes the prize: http:/Q_21934613.html  and also in http:/Q_21935642.html

Congratulations Jaes! Woohoo!

Jaes... AKA Ned with Hair. The swimmer. Mr. Finance.

So sorry for missing the big day. We were all sleeping at the wheel. I hope your recent sabbatical was not because we weren't minding the store.

The first thing I noticed about Jaes is his mature and eloquent nature. Most of the regulars here have a good sense of decorum which makes this TA so great (despite his attempts to deflect the credit many of us feel that Brad is the catalyst that makes all the goodness ooze out into the posts) and Jaes fits right in. It's one thing to learn and compete with other smart people, but to have fun getting to know them is icing on the cake. Another one of Jaes' great qualities is he never hesitates to acknowledges others for their cleverness.

Jaes has an excellent sense of humor that is so needed and appreciated these days. He also knows how to take a joke and make fun of himself. Like Nigel, I know I'm going to have a bit more fun when I see Jaes posting.

And to top it all off he knows how to do some pretty cool stuff in Excel. He probably isn't the most experienced among us but he has a very intense drive to learn and has asked me more than any one else how I did something.

Jaes, I like the way you play in our sand box. It's been a blast.

Congrats, Jaes! You were one of the first Experts I had any regular contact with and got to bounce ideas off and your unfailing good humour was one of the reasons I stuck around. It has been a pleasure dealing with and learning from you and I look forward to much more of the same!

Thanks all for your kind comments.  I'm sorry that I have been away.  Work has been really busy for the past couple months and I miss all of you guys.  I learned more about Excel from you guys in these past 10 months than I ever learned prior to this year.  I love it when someone says they know everything about Excel.  I want to just put them in a room with you guys and have you start asking them questions.  :)  Thank you for all your help as I made my way to Wizard.  I look forward to getting back to beating you guys to the answers when I'm able to catch some easy ones.

Take care and mind the place 'til I get back.

Kindest Regards...  as always...

Jaes
