Question

Congratulations to rorya—our new double Genius

Asked by: byundt

Congratulations to our new double Genius rorya! Patient with the clueless, writer of lucid explanations, and terribly good at Excel--couple that with a dollop of tenacity, and you reach 2 million in a year and a fortnight.

Some people make steady progress answering a lot of easy questions. Others enjoy tackling anything that comes up. Rory is one of the latter, and sometimes his innovative solutions leave me gobsmacked because they make the "impossible" seem so easy.

Rory has an advantage: he lives and works in Great Britain and appears to have a significant other who doesn't mind his plowing through the daily onslaught of questions from bewildered colonials. Whatever the case, Rory seems to have found his stride, and shows no signs of letting up. Now if we could only get him to use more colourful expressions...

Clearly, you have never met or spoken to my wife! The abuse I get for all the time I spend on "that @#*%$~@ computer" would embarrass a navvy. Or maybe you meant my boss, who has no idea.... ;^P

As for the colourful expressions, there have been a few times I've had to try very hard *not* to use them...

Thanks for the 'Woohoo' but I really must get on if I'm to reach Legend in my own lifetime! :)

Keep 'em coming.

Rory:

I remember when you started.  You quickly caught up with me and I did all I could to keep the pace for about a month.  It was then I realized I was sorely outmatched.  You are a great asset to EE and a wonderful Expert to know.  I have learned so much from you and always look forward to reading your responses when I see you have answered a question.  It's great to have you here and I hope we enjoy your company to Legend status and beyond.

Kindest Regards,

Jaes

Jaes,
Thank you kindly! It has been, and continues to be, a pleasure to be here - though achieving a balance between time here and my other commitments is not always easy, hence the number of times I decide to "just make one last post" and find myself still on at 1am ... :)
I'm also glad to say I am still learning things from you all, which makes the whole experience even more worthwhile! (and makes it easier for me to justify to myself)
Oh, and of course, there's the stylish T-shirt....

Rory,

It's always good to learn from you. You're a mine of information and what's more you're always happy to share it with others. I can vouch for that ridiculous time in the early morning - just how you do it I really do not know. I don't work so it's no stress for me but you must be fast becoming an insomniac. I reckon there's at least one other insomniac in the upper list!

Well done!

Patrick

Rory,
Congratulations! I think you managed a very good piece of work. Since you are now double genius I don't want to bother you with phrases like:
- Do you still have a life?
- Can't you stop for a while so we can catch up with you.
- Even writing you comments backwards they still make sence,
- Which question bot are you using
- are you connected to your PC
- are you using excel to monitor EE and when a certain word occurs your macro automatically post a possible solution.

Like I said I won't bother you with these questions/phrases. Just keep up the good work!!!

Well Done!!!
Jeroen

Rory, congratulations from another bewildered colonial :)

Thanks, all! It's nice to know I'm contributing to the bewilderment of the colonies... :)
And yes, I admit I did at one stage have a web query keeping track of posts!

Rory,

Awesome job!  I suspect that in about 12 minutes or so you will pass me
on the leaderboard, and all I can say to that is hat's off.  In the short time
you've been playing here I have learned quite a lot from you; I still marvel
at the solutions Brad mentions up top.

Best regards,

Patrick

Patrick,
Thanks - I think it'll take longer than that! (and I'll be away for the next week or so) :)
The next target is such a long way away though...    :(

During the cleanup proces I found a comment which shows how well Rory reads other comments and also the funny part of Rory when he probably found the secret life of Patrickab.

http:/Q_22489308.html

I have to say although these discussions shouldn't be in a serious question, though it gives a good view about interaction with each other and surely makes cleaning up a bit funnier.
