Thank you, Brad. That was the reason I could not create the hyperlink: the file was "shared". Old hyperlinks do work, however, you just can't create one.

I type "http:\www.partslogistics.
The MS Online help screen says to "right click the text (in the cell)" and then select Hyperlink in the Shortcut menu. The Hyperlink option is greyed out and cannot be selected.
Macro security is set at "low".
Suggestions? Thank you for your help

Is your workbook Shared (using the Tools...Share Workbook menu item, or else using Tools...Track Changes)? If so, you are not permitted to create or modify hyperlinks. See the on-line help for "Features that are unavailable in shared workbooks"
